Affiliate Tips - How to Overcome Information Overload

Will you accept this challenge? Over the next seven days, pay attention to things you do and your response to the overwhelming amount of information going in and through your life. How do others react to it? Identifying what you've done is key to understanding what's wrong and fix it if necessary. This article introduces you to a few proven tips to get rid of information overload.

Once you have nailed down the problems, you can analyze which activities consume most of your time. It may be email or RSS readers. I know some affiliate marketers who try to stay on the edge and end up subscribing to 50 newsletters and 300 RSS feeds.

Well, at first that may not sound a lot. You read that professional bloggers have more than that in their news reader. At first, this may seem like the proper way to approach your affiliate business. It has become the new norm in today's society. New opportunities open up new potential for income, right? Unfortunately, what's missing from the picture is action.

Affiliate Tips - How to Overcome Information Overload

I bet you have read it before. Some people who seem to know everything about the industry claim about the lack of information in a newly released e-book or membership site.

I cringe every time I see it. It's not about delivering new stuff at all time. In fact, most of the time they could have already made a killing if they just implement what they know. Sure, it's not as easy as snapping fingers, but that is the hard fact they are not willing to swallow yet.

Knowing new stuff makes them think they are accomplishing something. They think they are preparing to launch the business in a grand way. From nothing to a million overnight. They read success stories and now they want to break a new record.

But here's the truth. Smart affiliates are not afraid to fail. They take action based on what they know and add more to their repository as necessary.

That means, you have to will yourself.to read and implement. Put more weight on the latter. Don't be trapped in the circle of consumption. You will never learn everything unless you practice and do it. That's how it is and will always be. Don't believe those who try to make you think otherwise.

Rest assured that even if you don't check your email for a month, don't read any new e-book for a month, you will not miss a lot. But if you fail to take action, you miss a lot of opportunities.

How to Write a Great Topic Sentence

The first sentence of any short article is the MOST important sentence in the entire article. The first sentence is referred to as the topic sentence. It represents the main idea of the article. The topic sentence is made up of two parts; a limited subject and a precise opinion. For example, the topic sentence of this article consists of a limited subject; "The first sentence of any article" and a precise opinion; "is the most important sentence in the entire article". This article will show you how to choose a limited subject, how to express your opinion about the limited subject, and how to write the topic sentence.

Choose a Limited Subject: The key here is to select a subject that's limited enough to be covered within the confines of the short article. In other words, you should be able to fully support the limited subject using between 300 and 600 words or so. For example, the limited subject of this article, "the first sentence of any short article," is limited enough to support in a short article. Imagine how long it would take to write an article detailing everything you've done over the course of a year. That would be one very long article. Now, imagine writing an article detailing everything you did on July 4th of that year. I'd bet you could do that in 300-600 words.

Express Your Opinion: You can express your opinion by telling the reader exactly what you think about the limited subject. What, precisely, is your opinion on the subject you have chosen? Does it taste great or is it less filling? Which side are you on? More importantly, why? You mustn't be vague when you express your opinion. Words like nice, good and interesting are vague. They beg the reader to ask, "What do you mean?" Words like beautiful, delicious and dangerous leave little to the imagination.

How to Write a Great Topic Sentence

Writing the Topic Sentence: The basic structure for writing the topic sentence is very simple. First, state the limited subject and then state the precise opinion. Here are a few examples:

The Godfather is the greatest movie of all time. Broccoli rabe is my favorite vegetable. Strunk and White's "the Elements of Style" is the very best book of its kind. Learning to draw cartoons is the best way to enhance creativity. Starting your own internet business is the easiest, fastest and cheapest way to ensure a lifetime of financial stability.

I could go on and on but I'm sure you get the point. I hope this will help you write powerful topic sentences in your own articles. It's pretty easy as long as you remember to stick to a limited subject and as long as you remember to clearly state your precise opinion about that subject. This will help set the level of expectation for the reader and will allow you to focus on supporting your assertion that [insert limited subject] is [insert precise opinion].

How To Identify The Four Personality Types Resident In Every Boardroom

If you are a regular visitor to my blog you will know that recently, we have been developing a new leadership suite of programmes and this has led me to further investigate what I term "Personality Types" and Merrill & Reid call "Social Styles" in their excellent book "Knowing About Social Styles".

There are four personality types or social styles - Analyticals, Drivers, Expressives and Amiables - and all four have their own unique approach to business, their own language and thought processes etc. As a consequence, the very best sales professionals have become adept at recognising which personality they are dealing with and adapt their approach and communication style accordingly.

In every boardroom, you will always find three of the four personality types, occasionally, all four: I have discovered over the years which personality is likely to fill which position on the board but more on that later.

How To Identify The Four Personality Types Resident In Every Boardroom

The Driver:

Let's begin by looking at the characteristics of the Driver. Drivers are action and goal oriented, need to see results and have a quick reaction time. They are decisive, independent, disciplined, practical and efficient. They typically use facts and data, speak and act quickly, lean forward, point and make direct eye contact. Their body posture is often rigid and they have controlled facial expressions.

They rarely want to waste time on personal talk or preliminaries and can be perceived by other styles as dominating or harsh and severe in pursuit of a goal. They are comfortable in positions of power and control and they have businesslike offices with certificates and commendations on the wall. In times of stress, drivers may become autocratic.

The Analytical:

Analyticals are concerned with being organised, having all the facts and being careful before taking action. Their need is to be accurate, to be right. precise, orderly, methodical and conform to standard operating procedures, organisational rules and historical ways of doing things. They typically have a slow reaction time and work more slowly and carefully than Drivers. They are perceived as serious, industrious, persistent, and exacting.

Usually, they are task oriented, use facts and data, tend to speak slowly. lean back and use their hands frequently. They do not make direct eye contact and control their facial expressions. Others may see them as stuffy, indecisive, critical, picky and moralistic. They are comfortable in positions in which they can check facts and figures and be sure they are right. They have neat, well organised offices and in times of stress, Analyticals tend to avoid conflict.

The Expressive:

Expressives enjoy involvement, excitement, and interpersonal action. They are sociable, stimulating, enthusiastic and are good at involving and motivating others. They are also ideas oriented. have little concern for routine, are future oriented and usually they have a quick reaction time. They need to be accepted by others, tend to be spontaneous, outgoing, energetic, friendly and focused on people rather than on tasks. Typically, they use opinions and stories rather than facts and data. They speak and act quickly; vary vocal inflection, lean forward, point and make direct eye contact.

They use their hands when talking; have a relaxed body posture and an animated expression. Their feelings often show in their faces and they are perceived by others as excitable, impulsive, undisciplined, dramatic, manipulative, ambitious, overly reactive and egotistical. They usually have disorganised offices and may have leisure equipment like golf clubs or tennis racquets. Under stressful conditions, Expressives tend to resort to personal attack.

And Finally - The Amiable:

Amiables need co-operation, personal security and acceptance. They are uncomfortable with and will avoid conflict at all costs. They value personal relationships, helping others and being liked. Some Amiables will sacrifice their own desires to win approval from others. They prefer to work with other people in a team effort, rather than individually and they have an unhurried reaction time and little concern with effecting change. Typically, they are friendly, supportive, respectful, willing, dependable and agreeable. They are also people-oriented.

They use opinions rather than facts and data, speak slowly and softly, use more vocal inflection than Drivers or Analyticals. They lean back while talking and do not make direct eye contact; they also have a casual posture and an animated expression. They are perceived by other styles as conforming, unsure, pliable, dependent and awkward. They have homely offices - family photographs, plants etc. An Amiable's reaction to stress is to comply with others.

Most people's first reaction after reading the four profiles is to believe that they fit into more than one category and this is absolutely right. However, everyone has a dominant style and no-one should believe that they fit into more than two because they don't. Let me explain why:

The Social Styles Model:

It is not possible to illustrate with a diagram here, so imagine two boxes on top of two other boxes or if you prefer, a window with four panes. In the top left is the Analytical, top right the Driver, directly below them in the bottom right hand corner is the Expressive. Finally, directly below the Analytical, sitting in the bottom left hand corner is the Amiable

Note where each style is placed, because this is important. The people, with whom you probably find it most difficult to relate to naturally, are your diagonal opposites on the matrix. So you do need to study the characteristics of your diagonally opposite Social Style.

Now, what I can share with you, is that the majority of professional salespeople are Expressives; so clearly, they are going to find it most difficult to relate to and communicate with, Analyticals. That is a challenge in itself, because there will always be at least one Analytical within the formal DMU!

What is even more interesting, is that Top 5% achievers (yes, a favourite term I know) are Drivers! So you see, they have no difficulty getting onto the same wavelength as Analyticals, because they are side by side and of course they have total synergy with other Drivers, plus, they relate well to Expressives. But, they have little in common with Amiables. Why is that so significant? Well, quite simply, the Social Style that you are least likely to find in a boardroom is........ yes, it's an Amiable.

So, which Social Style do the various residents of the boardroom typically have?

Managing Directors are typically Drivers, as you might expect.

Finance Directors are usually Analyticals

Sales Directors are nearly always Expressives

Marketing Directors are also Expressives

Technical Directors are almost always Analyticals

And Finally:In Sales

Level 3, Top 5% Achievers, are normally Drivers

Level 2, Sales Professionals, are typically Expressives

Level One, Emerging salesmen and women are almost always Amiables

It is of course dangerous to generalise and there will always be exceptions, however based on my experience, I have very rarely been mistaken using this concept of personality identification.

Vitamin Absorption Into The Body

Vitamin absorption is something that anyone taking supplements should pay special attention to.

Not only will it affect the usefulness of the vitamins being consumed, it will also result in either no benefits or many benefits.

As we have heard many times now, liquid vitamins claim there products are the best because people who take tablet form just excrete them. This is good marketing, and comes down to a little bit of hype; however, it is partly true.

Vitamin Absorption Into The Body

Let's delve a little deeper in to some facts.

Many tablet vitamins are very cheap, mass produced and sold in supermarkets across the world. You've probably seen them time and time again. When you go shopping to your local store you will likely come across them in multivitamins etc. They are also made with the cheapest excipients - This is what puts the ingredients together, resulting in tablet form.

Because of this, the nutrients are mostly released in the stomach and destroyed by stomach acids.

In the case of these types of supplements, a large percentage will simply be wasted when you go to the toilet.

On the other hand however, some quality companies dedicated to optimising health use highly sophisticated supplements. Sometimes known as nutraceuticals. These companies will use very expensive all natural potent ingredients and excipients.

Some of these supplements have highly sophisticated delivery systems. This allows the nutrients to enter the blood stream for the most effective consumption.
The best delivery system for vitamin absorption and the other nutrients in the tablet is called enteric coating.

What makes this so effective?

Many powerful nutrients cannot be taken as supplements without being destroyed by the stomach acids; enteric coating protects the tablet and therefore the nutrients from being destroyed by stomach acids.

So it's not just about vitamin absorption, it's about all the nutrients you may take in a supplement. Especially the more sophisticated ones that have nutrients much more powerful and expensive than just vitamins. Vitamins tend to be weak antioxidants.

Liquid vitamins cannot be delivered in this way. To learn more about the supplement we personally use with excellent results, be sure to check out our site at the end of the article.

Process of Socialization

Socialization is a process of learning norms, rules, regulations, values and attitudes of society. It is a lifelong process which starts from childhood till to the death of a person. Socialization is a vital process of learning through which the society exists. Each and every society socializes its members according to its own values. For example, if a baby enters in American society, he/she socializes according to the characteristics of American society. In the same way, the children of Russian societies are being socialized according to the characteristics of Russian societies. A man learns ways of attitudes, behaviors, languages, and cultures of a society through the process of socialization.

What is human nature?

The debate of "nature" (heredity) and "nurture" (the social environment) is being made since decades. Some scientists think that nature plays an important role in the socialization while others view that nurture is only the way through which a member can be socialized. To answer this controversial question, one can give logical reasons that human beings do not have natural language. An infant comes in this society having only bones, flesh, and breathing system. If this very infant kept in isolation for several years, he/she cannot be able to speak even a single word. Heredity provides those essential things which are important to grow up but social environment is far important than heredity through which a children learns the language. Without the concept of language a member cannot create relationships with others. Language is a source to create relationships and to take part into the social interaction. So, nurture or social environment is so much important that it converts an animal into a social animal.

Process of Socialization

Cooley and the looking-Glass self

Charles Hurton Cooley was a renowned social scientist who thought that our sense of self develops from interaction with others. To describe this process, Cooley coined the term "looking- glass self theory" in the year 1902.

According to Cooley, there are three elements in the looking-glass self theory.
1. We imagine how we appear to the others. For example, we can guess that others see us as intelligent or stupid.
2. We interpret others' reactions. We may come to know that how others evaluate us. Do they like us for being intelligent? Do they dislike us for being stupid?
3. We develop a self-concept. After the reactions of others, we develop feelings and ideas about ourselves.

Looking-glass self theory is like a "social mirror" in which a person can see his/her reflection. This process of self development clearly shows us the image of our personality. We can judge our personality by feedback of others. So, the process of looking-glass self plays an important role in the process of socialization.

Agents of socialization

Agents of socialization are the people and groups which influence our emotions, attitudes and behavior etc. Family, religion, day care, school, peer groups and workplace are the agents of socialization that prepare us to take our place in society.

• Family

Family is an important agent of socialization where a child starts learning the language of family. Slowly and gradually a children learns the roles of family members. He/she recognizes the roles of father, mother, sisters and brothers. It has been seen that most of the children follow the roles of others like putting on glasses and reading newspapers as their parents do.

• Religion

Religion is also an important agent of socialization where an individual learns about right and wrong. Religions provide basic ideas of morality which become the part of our life in future. Religion teaches us about the way of dressing, speech, and manners which are suitable for us in formal occasions.

• Day care

Day care is another agent of socialization in which the children are being socialized and benefited by the others. It has been become a tradition in every society to hire a person for daily wages to take care of the children. Day care process stimulates the intellectual personality of children.

• The school and peer groups

The school and peer groups are the agents of socialization where a child meets with a large group of people of similar age. Apart from education, the students are linked with each other for common interests. In this way of sharing ideas and common interests, students find peer groups for themselves and they start learning from those peer groups. Friends, clubs, gangs, and the neighbors are some examples of the peer groups. While entering into a school and peer group a member starts learning new norms and characteristics like athletics ability, coolness, toughness physical appearance and attraction etc.

• The workplace

Workplace is another agent of socialization in which an individual enters into a mature age. Apparently, workplace is place where an individual serves as an employer and earns a few dollars. Besides this, an employer has lot of opportunities to learn essential things for future. It has been seen that co-workers always advise about the future plans and lifestyles. It can be said that it is a sort of rehearsal for future activities. Therefore, it is proved that workplace is an agent of socialization where an individual has the opportunity to learn a lot.

Summary

Socialization is a lifelong process in which an individual learns the essentials of society. The norms, mores, values, attitudes, thoughts and folkways are being transmitted from one generation to another with the help of socialization. A Child brings only few things with him/her in heredity but social environment provides the totality of life with the help of socialization. Charles Hurton Cooley presented the looking-glass self theory which contributes largely in the process of socialization. As far as the agents of socialization are concerned, there are five main agents such as family, religion, day care, school, peer groups and workplace.

What is Success and How Do We Achieve It?

To be clear about what success is must be the first step to achieving success.

So far, the best definition I have come across is: "Success is the completion of anything intended." In other words success is finishing what you planned to do.

Even robbing a bank is a kind of success if that is what you wished to do. However, you probably did not intend to end up in prison!

What is Success and How Do We Achieve It?

The above definition of success shines a light on failure and success. Make a plan and follow it and you will have succeeded. Make a plan and do not follow it and you will have failed.

This gives a yard stick for judging every day of our lives. We can say at the end of the day "I have failed" or "I have succeeded."

This may seem very obvious but it is amazing that only about 85% of the human race end up doing what they intended.

I asked several people what they thought success was. One person said that "Success is making loads of money." Another said that success is "Achieving your goals". Some one else said that success is "Fulfilling your potential". An interesting answer was that success is "Making others jealous".

Brian Tracy agrees with the connection between success and goals. He has said "Success is goals, and all else is commentary." Tracy believes that people with clear, written goals, accomplish far more in a shorter period of time than people without them.

Stuart Goldsmith in "The Midas Method" has an important section on how to set goals so that they are achieved using the full power of the subconscious mind.

Maria Nemeth gives this definition of success: "Doing what you said you would do, with ease".

"Doing what you said you would do" is currently not achieved by the majority of the human race especially politicians! Doing it with ease is achieved by even fewer and requires making the most of the subconscious mind.

Jim Rohn argues that success is just a few simple disciplines practised daily.

The power of daily discipline is HUGE. Because the discipline is practised daily the effect is cumulative. The good practice is carried out 365 times a year with, perhaps, a few lapses.

It cannot fail to have tremendous influence. Once the discipline becomes a daily habit, it can be forgotten about until the rewards start coming in.

The writer who writes every day has written well over 300 pages by the end of the year. If he or she does not write every day they lose momentum and inspiration. If they keep up the writing (even just a few words a day) a magnet for relevant thoughts develops.

Recently a Liverpool student of American media studies applied for 600 jobs and received only one interview which he failed. He decided to write a novel. He determined to complete ten pages a day. He worked in the evenings at a dead end job to make money and then wrote until about 5 in the morning at his novel which has now become famous. It also looks like becoming a Hollywood blockbuster film.

He points out that if you write only one page a day for 100 days you can write a screen play. He wrote his novel by studying the structure of two other novels and noticing how they were structured and wrote his screenplay after studying video of films and noticing how long each scene lasted before there was a change.

I can't remember his name or the name of his book as I just happened to hear part of his interview on television.

The practice of daily disciplines alone can change our lives totally. Another benefit of daily disciplines is that they quickly create habits and habits create character.

A great quote by Jim Ryun, the American Athlete, is as follows

"Motivation is what gets you started.
Habit is what keeps you going"

Another brilliant quote is:

"Try not to become a man of success but rather try to become a man of value."

Albert Einstein

The next quote says more or less the same thing:

"Success usually comes to those who are too busy to be looking for it." Henry David Thoreau

Many would argue that success is not about making money but about developing oneself into a person who is valuable to others.

However, this quite often will lead to making money because people will pay for value. Any one who is very good at their job can usually command whatever pay they wish.

Adam Hollioake is one of the most successful English county cricket captains. He realised what is important in life when his brother Ben was killed in a car accident in Perth Australia. Adam learned that he should be kind to people and have fun and "that's what life is about."

His view of success in cricket is not necessarily winning. He is not afraid to lose a cricket match. He is only concerned that his team put 100% effort into the game. He comments:

"If we do put that effort in we usually win anyway".

Success then is putting in 100% effort whatever the results. More often than not, however, the results will be excellent.

Michael Angier has a great definition of success.

"Success is the result of steadily taking action on our most important goals. When we consistently focus our energies and our efforts upon what matters most, we can't help but be successful".

Angier also admires Ralph Waldo Emerson's comments on success:

"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived; this is to have succeeded."

What are the causes of failure and success?

William James, the great American psychologist, puts failure down to lack of faith in one self

"There is but one cause of human failure. And that is man's lack of faith in his true self."

Faith in one self is a huge part of success. Stuart Goldsmith in "The Midas Method" talks about two kinds of belief that are necessary for success. You must believe that you deserve to succeed and you must believe that you have the ability to succeed.

Another big cause of success is discipline.

"The ability to discipline yourself to delay gratification in the short term in order to enjoy greater rewards in the long term is the indispensable prerequisite for success." Brian Tracy

Another cause is the willingness to try to succeed even if the possibility of success is remote.

"Far away in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see the beauty, believe in them and try to follow where they lead."

Louisa May Alcott (1832-1888) American Writer

My computer guru, Danny believes that you should hold on to your dream in all circumstances and never let go. Grab hold of your vision with an iron fist and even if you are down on your luck and in the gutter never give up.

Danny himself has held on to a dream for 22 years. His dream is to develop the best languages translator in the world.

It does not matter if you are 72 - grab hold of your dream. Actually visualize your hand holding on to that dream. Too many people are worn down by life and give up their dreams.

Every dream is personal but the principle is the same. You are an idiot if you let go. You have to have a reason for living. Set yourself a goal and never let go until you die.

There is nothing you can't do. If you can't swim 10 lengths without a rest, train for a few months and you will be able to swim 50 lengths.

Danny's comments about swimming reminded me about how little is taught at school about how training can improve your abilities.

At my school in the Isle of Man, there was an annual half mile swim in the sea. I knew I would drown if I attempted this but no one ever suggested that I start training hard so that I would be capable of completing the swim.

I was just classified as someone who could not do the swim. It did not occur to me that through determined training I would be able to do what I could not previously do.

When Danny was young he was a skinny weakling. But one day he decided that this was not a good thing. He filled out and did some weight training and set up his own fitness, strength and flexibility routine.

He performs this every other day. This avoids the boredom of a daily routine. He does 200 situps, 30-50 leg raises and three or four sets of 20-30 bench presses.

He also does 2 sets of 20 or 30 squats with dumbells to develop leg power. The dumbbells avoid the danger of overbalancing with a barbell across your shoulders. There is also little likelihood that you will drop the dumbbells on children or family pets! Dumbells allow for greater control than barbells.

Danny's advice for success is to do something. If in doubt, read a book. The worst thing you can do is sit on your backside watching TV. If you do, nothing will ever happen. He notes the hypnotic effect of TV on the spectators. Danny seldom ever watches TV.

Danny also is impressed by Arnold Schwarzenegger who has just been elected Governor of California. If Arnold wants something, he does what is necessary to get that thing. If he had to eat 50 mars bars, he would eat them. If he had to stand stark naked on his head in a field for half an hour he would.

This is an example to us all. If you have to put stamps on thousands of envelopes to send out your direct mail sales letters, you just have to do it.

The basic principle is that you have to do what is required. Some things require certain actions to achieve them and you have to do them whether you like doing them or not.

It is no good saying I want to be Governor of California but I don't want to do any public speaking or travel on the campaign trail or be friendly to thousands of people you don't like. You have to pick up babies and smile at people you may not like.

If you want to be rich you have to do those things which will make you rich. It's no good saying "I don't really want to do it." Danny gives himself a virtual smack round the head every time he is tempted to give up on his projects.

Some people think they will make money by taking short cuts like suing people or fraud. The world would be a much better place if people just got on with doing what they had to do.

Many successful people stress the importance of action in achieving success.

Michael Masterson of the Ezine "Early to Rise" writes:"Action is the key to success, and failure to act is the reason most people will never achieve the kind of success they dream about"

Another approach to achieving success is to stay cool about it. Just get on with doing what you think is important and what you love to do.

"Don't aim for success if you want it; just do what you love and believe in, and it will come naturally." Sir David Frost

Elvis Presley gave his cousin Donna some advice to help her achieve her goals for the future. It seems good advice to me:

Donna's best memory of Elvis was when she was 18 and she spoke to him one on one. He asked her about her plans for the future and told her she could achieve anything she wanted "so long as you have faith in God;have faith in yourself; work hard and never let anyone tell you, you can't do something".

Elvis himself had plenty of discouragement which he successfully ignored. The later part of his life was not too successful but as Donna commented, we should focus on what he did achieve which was amazing.

Peter Vidmar explains how he achieved success at the Olympic Games:

"There's only two things I had to do to win the Olympic gold: Train when I wanted to, and train when I didn't."

This is possibly my favourite quote of all time. It sums up the essence of success and the will power and discipline necessary to achieve it. Sometimes training will be easy but sometimes it will take effort because one really does not feel like training. This is simple and beautifully easy to understand.

Another quote I like is concerned with the kind of success which depends on people liking your work or product. Don't worry about whether they will like your work. Just do your best and leave the liking or disliking up to them.

"Success has a simple formula: 'Do your best and people may like it'".

Sam Ewing

Any success involves some kind of cost; usually some boring work is involved as suggested in the following quote. The word 'drudgery' sums this kind of work up exactly. Almost any kind of business involves marketing and marketing is the last thing many businessmen enjoy doing.

"Success is the child of drudgery and perseverance. It cannot be coaxed or bribed; pay the price and it is yours".

Orison Swett Marden, 1850-1924.

Mike Litman comes up with golden statements frequently. Here is just one of them:

"The biggest secret of success in life is: You don't have to get it right; you just have to get it going. Perfectionism can kill success. We never get going because we are always waiting to get everything just right. Instead, let's get going."

One success breeds another. Bobby Robson, now over 70, is one of Britain's most successful managers. He should know what creates success. He recently commented about his team's performances:

"Success breeds success"

This makes sense. Write one successful book and you will have the confidence to write another. A lady over 70 wrote a book about overcoming the pain of arthritis. It was a huge success to her total amazement and made hundreds of thousands of dollars. Not surprisingly she has now written two more books.

Success is a key goal for most people but it helps to have a clear idea of what success means to you. I hope this article will have shed some light on possible definitions of success and provided some ideas about how you can achieve your kind of success. 2500

Long Term Care Insurance Marketing LTC

Long Term Care Insurance Marketing is a skill that is expertly performed by few. Because the quantity of long term care agents is very limited, insurance marketing LTC products to these brokers is difficult. Read about the unique long term care broker recruiting rules that must be implemented

Answer this tough question. How many active agents in the long term care insurance market of expertise live in big cities and belong to the local life underwriter associations? My educated guess, backed by data investigation, shows that it is closer to one out of eighty of these agents. Although very few LTC agents are MDRT members, they are certainly not dummies. These pros have unique, effective techniques that contrast almost completely the way career agents are trained and sell.

There are 3 distinct rules for successfully marketing to agents selling senior citizens

Long Term Care Insurance Marketing LTC

First, you need to know how many of these special agents are located in your territory. Second, you need to know where in your territory to find them. Third, you have to use different methods to get the agent selling senior citizens to respond.

A recent study was recently completed covering almost 1/3 of the total licensed health and life agents in the United States. This required drilling deeply into a compiled insurance database. Inspecting and analyzing accurately the data history of over 450,000 actively licensed insurance sales agents was required. The research revealed 195,600 agents that broker insurance policies with an outside carrier. This could be some form of life or health business. Further investigation achieved by digging deeper provides a count of 65,100 senior market brokers. That translates to roughly a current count of 200,000 senior market agents nationwide.

All states however are not equal in proportion and can vary up to 40%. For definition purposes look at the policies the agents sell. Senior market agents actively sell long term care insurance also know as LTC, Medicare supplements, cancer coverage, supplemental health policies, Medicare Advantage, and burial insurance. Now you know how few of these agents there are, compared to the total licensed agents. Experienced brokers are adept a selling a combination of these products. Some include annuity sales in their portfolio.

Next clue is pinpointing where these agents are found. Easy answer here. Look for suburban areas farther away from the metropolitan cities, and use a map or zip code directory to locate the most rural areas in your territory.

The last one is the hardest for senior market insurance agent recruiters to swallow. The correct advertising medium must be used or your results suffer You don't have a lot of options like you might normally have. You can completely skip trade magazines and printed media, as few senior market agents or broker subscribe to them. Attempting to email blast insurance agents in this category is a disaster. There is no known Quality email source targeting this small market segment on a trusted basis. Telemarketing phone solicitation to senior market agents will do nothing but waste hours and hours of your time. These agents often stay overnight in motels, and work strictly daytime hours.

The solution is two-fold. The first is to purchase the most refined list of senior market brokers and agents you can find. A large unrefined list is stupid to use, unless you are satisfied making pennies instead of substantial dollars. Next direct mail these agents with a short tantalizing message. An option is to follow up your mailed messag with a few phone calls to known prospective brokers.

- defining your target audience (visualize specific individuals you foresee purchasing the book)

Book Marketing Plan

- making a list of specific organizations that might

- hosting a book signing or speaking engagement

- developing promotional materials - sales sheet, web page, post cards and book marks

- writing an enticing book description

- determining ideal outlets for selling your book (internet retailers, your web site, independent book stores, speaking engagements, etc.)

What's the worst that could happen? You could be one of those authors who never sells more than 99 books!

Marketing should not begin after the book is produced; it must begin before the book goes to press. Why not wait until the book has been printed? First of all, you'll miss several crucial marketing opportunities. Secondly, if you wait until the book is in your hands you'll feel under the gun to sell it and planning probably won't be a priority for you.

Another good reason to think of marketing before your book is printed or published is the book cover. After all, you can't expect your readers to judge a book without its cover!

MARKETING PLAN

In regards to your book cover, the marketing plan will help you determine the appropriate design, key words, and the content for the back cover. By developing a marketing plan, you'll be forced to consider:

○ specific target markets

○ their interests and desires

○ their trusted and frequent information resources

Armed with this information you'll be able to write a back cover description that entices prospective readers to open and purchase the book.

Target Market

Once you understand your target market, where they purchase books and whose opinions they trust and admire you'll have enough information to identify the appropriate sales venues (internet retailers, book stores, conferences, etc.). I've included a sample target market analysis at the end of the book.

Here's an example: I mentioned the client who's writing a young adult fiction novel. She told me her target market was teens and young women aged 15 - 35. That's a great start, but it's not enough. With my help she was able to expand this description...

○ Primary target: black single women and single mothers ages 23- 30;

○ Secondary target: black young adult women & college students age 18 - 22

○ Tertiary target: black high school teens 15-18

Notice that we didn't just say readers, but that we were specific about their sex, age, marital status and education - single women, single mothers, college students and high school students.

We also considered geography. The author lives in Atlanta, GA therefore this is her primary geographic target. We expanded this to include the Southeast region of the U.S. since it's easy for her to travel to neighboring states for book signings and speaking engagements. She also has extensive contacts in New York so we included the Northeast as a secondary geographic market. Segmented the market this way does not mean preclude the author from pursuing national sales, it just helps her focus on specific regions.

Don't worry if the thought of writing a formal marketing plan, causes some apprehension. Instead consider using a tool that my clients and I have found extremely helpful - the book proposal. Traditionally, book proposals are only necessary for authors in search of an agent or a traditional publisher, however I've found the proposal to be an immense help to all authors.

In the process of writing a book proposal you will:

○ Clarify the subject hook (short, compelling book description)

○ Present the book hook (title, selling handle and length)

○ Identify specific benefits and features

○ Identify competitive titles

○ Address marketing strategies and tactics

While writing God is My Consultant I found myself a bit confused about how to position the book, how to make it different and better than other spiritual/self-help books and the book's major selling points. After two re-writes I still like it wasn't quite right. So I stopped working on the manuscript and turned to writing the proposal. By the time I finished writing the proposal I was able to delete a lot of extraneous information from my manuscript, I had a full-fledged marketing and promotions plan and I knew exactly what to put in query letters to agents and publishers.

I also used the book proposal format to help a client edit her novel and write a book description to use on the back cover and in promotional material. To solve this problem we wrote the subject hook and the target market sections of the book proposal. In doing so, she was compelled to focus on the book's main theme and why it appealed to her target readers.

Cultivate the Right Internet Marketing Mindset

While there are ways to self-teach yourself about how to be an effective Internet marketer, it is important to realize that you must get yourself in the right frame of mind if anything you learn is going to be of any help to your new career choice.

Develop the right attitude: Having the right attitude is critical to succeed as an Internet Marketer. Having the wrong attitude can end in a string of failure. Therefore it is critical to develop a positive mindset. Feed the can do spirit. Understand that it does take time learn how to do Internet Marketing. So in areas where you are slow, or fall down blame yourself too much. Just extract the lesson and bounce back this setback and continue your push for success. Feed the can do spirit.

Book Marketing

You can learn; you can do: Tell yourself there is nothing you can't learn to do. Think of it like going to college and doing a study before you start a new profession. You must learn the basic, get familiar with new terminology. Then you must apply what you know for practice. Unless you are already a marketer of some sort this can be awkward at first until you really get familiar with the area. But believe you can and you will. Stick to it.. You will get there eventually as you see setback as just mere speed bumps along the way.

Cultivate the Right Internet Marketing Mindset

Research it: Research the terms you will be using. Get familiar with the jargon in the industry. Get use to the lingo. As you get use to the lingo it will get easier assimilate the information. Get acquainted with the tools of Internet Marketing. There is a lot of tools out there proposing to make your life easier. Some of course will and some won't. Some are free and so you will have to buy. As you go about figure out Internet Marketing as a business you will figure what you need and what you won't depending on the area of internet Marketing you focus on.

Treat it like a business: Keep remind yourself that you are not doing this as a hobby. You are pursuing the creation of a real business. Get yourself in investment mode. When you've found those tools that make your life easier take the time to learn to use them properly. Don't be jumping from one tool to the other like a wild unfocused newbie. Focus on find those tool that make your Internet Marketing easier. This will put you in a better position, hopefully freeing up your time for other things. If you are to buy a tool, assess the value and ensure that the value to your Internet Marketing outweighs the cost.

Bounce back from setbacks: Don't set yourself up for failure by getting bog down trying to use a whole bunch of tools. Simpler is better most of the time. Also do try to do everything all at once... remember the old saying.. Jack of all trade matter of none. So find an area you particularly interested in. Focus on it. Master it and won the skill. Then move on to a next area. Have a marketing plan as well for this will keep you focus. Also this will keep you focus on what where you want to and what you need to do.

Remember every challenge or problem is nothing more than an opportunity in disguise. So above all things meet each challenge with questions about how to turn the situation around? There will always be challenges and a true Internet marketer will see these situations as mere stepping stones to success, rather than a an excuse to give up.

Feed the can do spirit: Of course no matter how positive you are there will be days when you almost can find the strength to continue. There will be times when nothing make sense. There will be times when you ignore the plan. Know that these days will come. Remind yourself that every successful Internet Marketer had this same experience but didn't give up. When it gets really frustrating take a break then plan to come back to it later. Change the focus of your attention, like watching some TV, read some books, or whatever it is that you like that, just take a break.

keep at it: A very popular saying that has been riveted in me since I was a child is" Heights by great men reach and kept was not attained by sudden flight; but they while their companion slept was toiling upward through the night. Remember you can achieve whatever you dare to dream. You can succeed if you believe. But it requires stick-tuitiveness and commitment on your part. Whatever you do, don't give up.

No one said it would happen over night, even though it does for some. But that is the exception rather than the norm. It may not happen overnight, but keep your chin up, work hard, and assimilate what you need to learn, build your confidence in Internet Marketing and grow and grow. You will eventually get there. And then you will be able to say alas... I did it. Trust me.. I know!

IELTS Tips and Tricks - Mastering the Writing Task

Everyone's biggest problem with Writing Task is finishing both tasks on time. What no one tells you is that if you don't finish either one, you lost a whole band point. This never has to happen to you!

The key to making sure that you report and essay qualify as finished is that they have a clear Conclusion paragraph. That paragraph can be one sentence long, if necessary. And the best news of all is, you have already written that sentence!

Writing And Speaking

At the end of the Introduction (paragraph 1) of the Writing Task 1 report, you have written a summary of the information. In the same position - at the end of the first paragraph - in Writing Task 2, you have written your Thesis Statement. Simply be repeating both of those sentences at the beginning of a Conclusion paragraph, you have made your writing qualify as finished - even if there is more you wanted to write. And you don't lose a whole band point needlessly.

IELTS Tips and Tricks - Mastering the Writing Task

Here's what you do:

1)Make sure you do write a good summary in Writing Task 1 and a good Thesis Statement in Writing Task 2. (Your report and essay won't work without them anyway.)

2)Watch your watch! No one is going to keep you on track as far as elapsed time is concerned. It's up to you to monitor your own progress.

3)In Writing Task 1, if 18 minutes have passed and you're still writing Body Paragraph sentences, finish the sentence you're writing, quickly. Then, start a new paragraph (and make sure it looks like a new paragraph), and begin it with the words, "In conclusion,..." Then rewrite the summary. If you can, change a word or two (but not the meaning). If not, just write it exactly the way you did at the end of the Introduction.

4)In Writing Task 2, if 38 minutes have passed and you're still writing Body Paragraph sentences, finish the sentence you're writing, quickly. Then, start a new paragraph (and make sure it looks like a new paragraph), and begin it with the words, "In conclusion,..." Then rewrite the Thesis Statement. (This needs to be done in any case. It is an essential part of the essay.)

5)Ideally, in Writing Task 2, you should write the Restatement in reverse order of the Thesis Statement. For example, if it is an opinion essay, and you wrote your opinion and three reasons in the Thesis Statement, write the three reasons first, and then the opinion, in the Restatement. Again, if you have time and can, change a word or two (but not the meaning). If not, just write it exactly the way you did at the end of the Introduction.

6)Make sure you finish these "In conclusion,..." sentences on time. The task ends at exactly 60 minutes.

Obviously, this will not save you any lost points if all you have is a few sentences and your essay is far too short in the first place. But if you have written most of the essay, and followed the format, it's essential that you not lost a whole band point just because it isn't finished. So make it look finished!

Letter Writing - How to Appeal a Decision and Write a Successful Appeal Letter

Writing an appeal letter can be a daunting task. Having already suffered the indignity or inconvenience of a refusal or denial, far too many people simply give up and struggle on miserable situations. Having helped hundreds of people in the UK make successful appeals, I can certainly say that there is almost always a light at the end of the tunnel if you are willing to take the time to write a good appeal letter.

The most common types of appeal that we deal with in the UK are Disability Living Allowance (DLA) appeals and school admission appeals. Although each different type of appeal will require a different type of appeal letter, many of the elements are the same and the key to a successful appeal letter is to research, research, research!

Writing And Speaking

With every decision that you may need to appeal, there are rules, regulations and guidelines. For example, in the case of DLA appeals, there is a 'decision makers guide' (DMG) that clearly sets out the requirements and guidelines for successful claims. In the case of school admissions, your local authority will have a policy and regulations that must be followed. The first step in writing a successful appeal letter is to make yourself familiar with the policies, guidelines and rules relating to your claim.

Letter Writing - How to Appeal a Decision and Write a Successful Appeal Letter

When writing an appeal letter, you must use the information you have gathered to shape your appeal. There is little to be gained by going over old information and expecting the decision to be changed, rather, you must use the organisations own policy to prove your case. All the information you need can be found either online or by requesting it from the organisation concerned so do your homework!

Once in receipt of the relevant information, it is your job to find the grounds on which you can appeal. We recently wrote a DLA appeal letter for a women who had an autistic child and succeeded in getting the decision overturned based on the department of Work and Pensions decision makers guide but in order to do so it was necessary to research the guidelines and provide documentary evidence to support the criteria.

The key to making a successful appeal, whether through writing an appeal letter or going through an appeals procedure is gathering your evidence and matching the evidence to the criteria set out by the organization. This can be time consuming and challenging but your time will be well spent if you avoid a lengthy tribunal process and overturn a decision.
